UBC Okanagan invites the community to hear Sharon Bond-Hogg, CEO of Kekuli Café Properties, at the Faculty of Management’s Indigenous Business Speaker Series on Oct. 2. The event is set for the University Centre Ballroom (UNC 200) from 10 am to noon.

The Indigenous Business Speaker Series offers a unique opportunity to engage with thought leaders and explore the role of Indigenous entrepreneurship in shaping communities and economic opportunities.

Bond-Hogg is a member of the Nooaitch First Nation, was born in Merritt and resides in Westbank First Nation. She co-founded Kekuli Café, Canada’s first Indigenous fast-casual food franchise, alongside her husband, Darren Hogg.

Over the past two decades, she’s established herself as an innovator, inspiring others through her dedication to Indigenous-led initiatives and community building.

Bond-Hogg can speak to the unique challenges and successes she has experienced in building a thriving Indigenous business. Kekuli Café has become a symbol of community and cultural pride, providing a model for leadership in the business world.

This event is part of an ongoing conversation about truth and reconciliation as well as the future of Indigenous leadership.

It provides a platform for students, faculty, staff and community members to connect and engage with Indigenous business leaders, fostering dialogue around the intersection of entrepreneurship, governance and community development.

The Indigenous Business Speaker Series offers a space to explore the transformative power of Indigenous business and leadership.

Attendees will gain valuable insights into how Indigenous entrepreneurs are creating pathways for future generations, advancing reconciliation through economic empowerment and driving positive change in their communities.
