In what was probably the most complete forty minutes of basketball UBC Okanagan has played so far this season that led to the Heat's 79-54 victory over the MacEwan Griffins.

Micah Cockrill led the Heat in scoring for the third consecutive game as he scored the Heats first 8 points en route to an 18 point game.

The Heat struggled with Griffin big man, Andrew Bates as the fourth year post had 16 points in the first half yet the Heat still managed a 4 point lead 38-34 at the break.

The third quarter, as has been the case with every game in this tournament, was a deciding factor in the game as UBC Okanagan shut the door on the Griffin offense allowing just 8 points in the quarter as Heat post defenders, Steve Morrison and Dave Mackay held Bates to zero points in the third. Mackay led the way on the offensive end for the Heat as well scoring 8 of his 17 points in the game in the third.

The Heat’s defense continued to shine in the second half holding the Griffins to 20 points on 6 of 40 shooting. Steve Morrison led the Heat in rebounding with 9 rebounds; he also added 9 points as the Heat won the battle of the glass in this game 49-42. This game finished the tournament for the Heat and closed up the Heat’s exhibition schedule in which they won four games and lost six. The Heat will open their league schedule at Capilano University on Friday November 5th, game starts at 8:00 pm.
