The UBC Okanagan men’s soccer team on Sunday lost to the UNBC Timberwolves 1-0. The Heat maintained ball possession and carried much of the play throughout the first half. Just like the women’s game that was played just before the men were unable to capitalize on the numerous scoring chances created in the first half as the break saw both teams tied at zeros. In the second half the Heat allowed UNBC to gain momentum and control the ball which led to the Timberwolves slipping one past Heat keeper Spencer Brown in the 80th minute. Man of the match keeper, Spencer Brown kept the Heat in the match as he made several huge saves.
This loss drops the Heat to one win, one draw and eight losses and has eliminated the men’s team from any chance of making the postseason this year. This weekend the Heat play their last two regular season games this weekend as they host Kwantlen (0-1-9) Saturday at 3:00pm, whom the Heat notched their lone victory, and Douglas College (9-1-0) will be on the turf at UBC Okanagan Sunday at 2:00pm.
