Greg Niemantsverdriet is in his second year of eligibility but his first year playing for the Heat, Greg is attending UBC Okanagan working towards his bachelor of Arts degree. Niemantsverdriet has proven himself to be one of best attackers in the nation. The second year outside hitter has helped lead the UBC Okanagan Heat to a No. 2 national ranking. The Heat boast a 7 win and only loss record and in find themselves sitting in first place in the BCCAA. In their last weekend of play the Heat defeated the defending provincial champion Camosun Chargers in four sets. UBC Okanagan continued the next night in Nanaimo versus BCCAA rival Vancouver Island University and won in five sets.
Largely due to the exceptional attacking of Greg that powered the Heat to victory and remain at the top of the league thus far. Greg scored 26 points (22 kills, 3 aces, 1 block) on Friday with an impressive .590 attack efficiency. His performance Saturday included 15 points (13 kills, 1 block, 1 ace) with a .310 attack efficiency. Nearly 60% of Greg’s attacks were kills in the month of November. Niemantsverdriet in three of the four statistical league categories being third (just ahead of teammate Nate Speijer) in the BCCAA in kills with (3.75/set) fourth in service aces, and fourteenth in digs. Greg is second in the league in overall offensive scoring at 4.43 points per set. Not only has Greg established himself as premier attacker, he is also one of the best servers in the league. He has consistently performed at a high level versus all teams thus far in the BCCAA in the front row.
