- Heat Goal Scorer(s):
o Lindsey Briggs (5’, 36′ 1st and 2nd of the year)

The Heat came out firing against Quest University, notching three goals in the first half to put away the Kermodes early. Tallying the goals for the Heat were Lindsey Briggs (3rd year, Delta, B.C), who scored in the 5th and 36th minutes, and Michelle Smith (2nd year, Vernon B.C), who scored in the 40th minute. Christine Tallon (3rd year, Kamloops, B.C), in her second consecutive Sunday start in net, collected a clean sheet for her efforts.
“It was another solid team performance by the team today,” remarked head coach Claire Paterson. “We moved the ball around the field well and were threatening in the final third. The work rate up front by Briggs, Dodds and Greig was fantastic which resulted in three great goals.”
Despite a strong second half, the Heat were unable to notch a fourth goal. The best chance came in the 80th minute, when Jennifer Kidd (4th year, Richmond, B.C) rang a howitzer off the crossbar.
“We played one of our best games so far this season,” said second-year forward Kirsten Dodds (Vernon, B.C). “We came together as a team and the chemistry up front was awesome. The bar has been set for the rest of the season.”
The Heat’s record now stands at 2-1-1, moving the team into an early second place tie with Kwantlen Polytechnic University. The Eagles are the only team to defeat the Heat so far this season.
The Heat will continue their season on the road, when they travel to Nanaimo to face the Vancouver Island University Mariners on Saturday, September 22nd. UBC Okanagan will then travel to Capilano University to take on the Blues on Sunday, September 23rd. Saturday kick off is at 1 p.m. with the Sunday match slated to start at 12 p.m.
