- Heat Goal Scorer(s):
o Tanner Brydges (75’, 1st of the year)
Unlike the day before, UBC Okanagan held the lead late but surrendered the tying goal, settling for a 1-1 draw against the Quest University Kermodes. The scoring opened up late, with Tanner Brydges (1st year, Drayton Valley, AB) putting one in the net in the 75th minute. The win appeared to be in place, but the Kermodes’ last ditch effort on a free-kick tied the game in the 85th minute. The Heat had a last ditch effort of their own to take the lead on a free-kick rewarded 25 yards out with 10 seconds left, but Austin Jones (3rd year, Vernon, B.C) was unable to capitalize.
“We played well offensively in the beginning of the game, and generated goal scoring opportunities through the middle and the wings,” explained fifth-year forward Zach Donaldson-Hall.
The Heat end the weekend without a win, but also without a loss, after playing Langara to a 1-1 tie the day before. UBC Okanagan’s record now stands at 0-1-3.
“Next weekend we need to come with the right mind set as a team and get the points we need moving on,” added Donaldson-Hall.
The Heat will continue play on the road, when the team travels to Nanaimo to face the Vancouver Island University Mariners on Saturday, September 22nd. Sunday, September 23rd will see the Heat traveling to Capilano University to face the Blues.
