Men’s Soccer – vs. Capilano University, Sunday (2 p.m.) at Nonis Sports Field, UBC’s Okanagan campus
Men’s Soccer – Unable to pull off the miraculous run needed to put the team in the playoffs, the men’s soccer team can look to build upon the solid foundation of players they have in place after being eliminated from the playoffs. It didn’t take the team long to turn their season around after falling to Langara last Saturday (2-0); the Heat played great on Sunday, capturing their first win of the season over Quest 3-2, with Austin Jones scoring all three goals for the hat trick.
The first game for the Heat this weekend will be against the sixth ranked team in the nation Vancouver Island mariners (8W-1L-3T) on Saturday at 3p.m. The Heat played VIU on September 22nd and fell 3-0 in their first matchup of the season.
On Sunday Capilano University (2W-7L-3T) will invade UBC’s Okanagan campus to face the Heat. The game will get underway on Sunday at 2 p.m., and in these two teams’ earlier meeting Capilano was the victor, 2-0. All soccer games will be played at the Nonis Sports Field on UBC’s Okanagan Campus.
For the men’s soccer team three players will be playing their last game for the Heat. Sean Causier (Midfield, Port Moody, BC) and Zach Donaldson-Hall (Forward, Kamloops, BC), both of whom transferred in to UBC to finish out their collegiate soccer careers, will be joined on senior’s day with Dustin Luck. Luck is a Kelowna native, graduate of Kelowna Secondary and played his five years for UBC Okanagan; he will graduate in the spring with a degree in management.
