Men’s and Women’s Golf – at Vancouver Island, Sat-Sun at Bear Mountain Golf Course, Victoria, BC
Men’s and Women’s Golf – After a bye-week last weekend, the Heat return to the links this weekend, traveling to Bear Mountain Golf Course in Victoria, BC for the third weekend of PACWEST golf action.
The University of Fraser Valley has been absolutely dominant in the first two weekends of play, capturing both the men’s and women’s team titles, as well as the women’s individual in both tournaments, and the men’s individual in UBC Okanagan’s home tournament two weekends ago. Jen Woods and Darren Whitehouse have made their respective women’s and men’s teams forces to be reckoned with in the PACWEST, and show no signs of slowing down heading into this weekend.
Meanwhile, the Heat have enjoyed some success of their own. Will Deck, as an individual, won the first tournament of the year, and finished third in UBC Okanagan’s host tournament at the Okanagan Golf Club last weekend. Cody Bell has been playing solid golf as well, finishing both tenth and eighth over the first two tournaments. As for the women, Heat rookies Carolyn Lee and Kelsey McGillis continue to make steady improvements in their respective games and have played extremely well in the first two tournaments of their careers. Both the men and the women will have to bring their “A games” this weekend in Victoria, on a course that many Heat players have characterized as one of the toughest in the PACWEST.
