EDMONTON – When Canadian Interuniversity Sport posted its Top 10 Tuesday release, the University of Alberta stood above all others in the conference in many sports.
The initial CIS men's and women's basketball polls for 2013-14 show Alberta ranked #2 in both, while still holding the top position in men's hockey and men's volleyball. In the final women's soccer poll ahead of Nationals, the #3 Pandas are the top-rated conference school.
The UBC Thunderbirds continue to lead the women's volleyball poll, as they have for most of the last six years, along with the men's soccer poll. The Victoria Vikes are Canada West's highest-rated team in men's and women's cross country as they prepare for the national championship in London, Ont. on November 9th. In a very competitive hockey conference, Regina, at #7, is one spot ahead of UBC in CIS rankings.
