Game 3 (Bowl Round): UBC Okanagan Heat def. Mount Royal Cougars 21-7 - Bowl Award Win
LANGFORD, BC – The Heat men’s rugby squad kicked off their Saturday at the University Seven’s national championships with their final match of pool play, where they saw a heartbreaking 14-7 loss to Waterloo, sealing their chances at the Cup, instead finding themselves vying for the Bowl after wrapping up 11th in their pool.
The Heat followed up with Bowl matches against the Calgary Dinos and Mount Royal Cougars Saturday in a round robin to determine the Bowl winner. The Dinos were up first, with the Heat avenging their loss to them the day prior, dominating the Calgary defense en route to their 12-0 shutout. Warmed up on an otherwise rainy and dreary day on the island, the Heat came out even stronger against the Cougars, again going uncontested to a 21-0 rout, sealing their Bowl Award victory.
This will conclude another successful season for Heat rugby, who are happy to come home with some hardware.

Game 1: Humber College def. UBC Okanagan Heat 17-0
Game 2 (Bowl Round): UVIC-2 def. UBC Okanagan Heat 12-7
Game 3 (Bowl Round): York def. UBC Okanagan Heat 21-0
LANGFORD, BC – The second day of action at the University Sevens National Championship did not prove as fruitful as the day prior for the UBC Okanagan women’s rugby team, who went 0-3 in their contests and dropped out of Bowl contention.
Eighth ranked Humber college continued to impress in Langford by continuing its upward climb, dousing the Heat in their first matchup of the day 17-0. The loss saw the Heat go 2-2 in pool play and drop to 11th and a spot in the Bowl bracket.
Unfortunately the Heat struggled offensively, unable to get a proper handle on the ball through multiple stretches that would result in costly turnovers in quick matches. Still, they managed to hang around with the UVIC-2 team until the latter slipped away to a 12-7 victory to seal their chances at the Bowl. York would later snuff the Heat’s flame for good in a 21-0 match.
