The UBC Okanagan Heat women's cross country continue to be honoured for the national championship season of 2013, after winning the ryanwatters.ca 'Team of the Year' the Heat women have been put forth as one of three finalists for the City of Kelowna's 'Bryan Couling Memorial Award'.
The Bryan Couling award is awarded to the he Kelowna based team (amateur or professional) who brought the greatest amount of recognition to Kelowna in 2013 and is sponsored by Grant Thorton.
The other three finalists, announced on March 17, 2014, are the Kelowna Christian School Senior Boys Basketball Team, and the Kelowna Christian School Senior Girls Volleyball Team.
This is the sixth year in a row a UBC Okanagan Heat team has been a finalists for the award. Last year the Heat women's golf team fell short of capturing the award falling to the senior boys' soccer team from OKM Secondary, Heat team's captured three straight Bryan Couling Memorial Awards from 2008-2010. 2010 - UBC Okanagan Heat Women's Volleyball Team, 2009 - UBC Okanagan Heat Women's Volleyball Team, 2008 - UBC Okanagan Men' Volleyball Team). In 2011 the men's volleyball team was nominated as well but didn't earn the award.
