KELOWNA, B.C. – Carolyn Lee, who stared on the UBC Okanagan women's golf team this past season earned an Academic All Canadian award from the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) for her accomplishments this past season.
With only the UBC Okanagan golf program still in the CCAA there were only 10 student athletes of Heat varsity teams even eligible for the CCAA’s most prestigious student-athlete honour. Carolyn had a great year and was a Provincial All-Star, and All Canadian and a National Tournament All Star as well, while leading her young Heat women's golf team to a Provincial Silver medal and a National Bronze medal.
Carolyn attributes her involvement in College Sport as a contributor to her success at school.
"Being involved in Golf at the post secondary level has taught me to view success as striving to reach my full potential, which motivates me to perform well in class," says Lee. "Golf has taught me that I can conquer any setback through hard work and dedication. Golf also helps me develop strong work ethics. It makes me realize that adequate preparation is the key to success both on the course and in the classroom. I have also realized how crucial it is to have outstanding time management and organization skills in order to succeed in school."
Official release From the CCAA:
March 25, 2015 – The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association is proud to announce the 2014-15 Academic All-Canadian Award recipients. This year, 142 student-athletes have achieved combined excellence in collegiate athletics and academics.
