Thompson Rivers, Saskatchewan, and Douglas join the Heat in Kelowna. Matches Friday and Saturday at 5 and 7 p.m.
KELOWNA, BC – Two Canada West teams and a former foe from the PACWEST will join the UBC Okanagan Heat in an exhibition tournament just two weeks prior to the start of the Canada West conference season. Hosting Canada West opponents is a rare occurrence for the Heat with the last friendly on the Nonis turf between conference foes on August of 2013 when Fraser Valley visited Kelowna.
Making the long trek to the Okanagan will be the Saskatchewan Huskies, the Heat have never met the ‘Dogs before and won’t have a chance to see them again unless they matchup in the postseason, the U of S play in the Prairie Division of Canada West whereas UBC Okanagan play in the Pacific. Another Pacific member, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack, will also play in Kelowna this weekend, but won’t face their Pacific Division foes in UBC Okanagan. The third team to wrap up the four game tournement is the Douglas College Royals, who just last week played the Heat to a 3-3 ties in Kamloops.

The men will close out their preseason next weekend atwith a pair of friendlies versus Quest in Vancouver. The Canada West season opens for the Heat at home on the Nonis Sports Field when they host Fraser Valley and Trinity Western on Saturday and Sunday (Sep 12-13) at 2 p.m. respectively.
