UBC Okanagan women win gold, the men win bronze and Carolyn Lee, Laurne Siemers, and James Casorso all earn Provincial All-Stars.

CHILLIWACK, BC – Winners of three of the four tournaments on the PACWEST women's golf tour, the UBC Okanagan Heat were crowned provincial champions on Sunday, October 4th at the UFV Invitational at the Chilliwack Golf Club, this is their fifth straight provincial medal and third provincial championship, the last one coming in 2012.
The three members of the team, Carolyn Lee, Lauren Siemers, and Emily Adams finished second, third, and fourth in the individual standings for the year, Lee and Siemers were named Provincial All-Stars as the top three female golfers on the leaderboard are honoured with the award.
Going into this weekend the Heat enjoyed a 29-stroke lead over the Fraser Valley Cascades, and were able to secure the Provincial medal after a 6-stroke victory in Chilliwack. The leaderboard after the four tourney tour was UBC Okanagan (1314), Fraser Valley (1349).
Lauren Siemers, who had a hole in one last Sunday (Sept. 27 in Victoria) continued her impressive play this past weekend, the first year golfer from Mount Boucherie had the second lowest score (80-82, 162) just 3-strokes of the pace of winner, and overall provincial overall winner, Hannah Dirksen of Fraser Valley. Dirksen, playing on her home course, shot a tournament low 76 to scoop her second win of the year and overtake UBC Okanagan's Lee for player of the year honours.
Carolyn Lee struggled on day one at the invitational shooting an 87, Lee rallied on Sunday and carded an 81 to finish in fourth place (87-81, 168). Her teammate, Emily Adams finished third this weekend (86-78, 164).
Lee's consistency through the year paid off as she finished second overall 4-strokes back of Dirksen, for her second straight top-2 finish on the women's PACWEST tour. Lauren Siemers finished the year strong and wound up third in the overall standings 6-strokes back to earn an all-star in her first year.
With the silver medal the Heat women qualify for the 2015 PING CCAA National Championships to be held at this same golf course, the Chilliwack Golf Club, starting on October 13th and running through the 16th.
On the men's side the Heat finished with the bronze medal for the third straight year, the team of James Casorso, Grant Dollevoet, Oliver Rizun, and Jacob Stewart finished behind Camosun, with 2,318 combined strokes over four tournaments, UFV totaled (2,372) and UBC Okanagan (2,414).
Casoroso, the third year golfer from Immaculata, finished the season fourth on the overall leaderboard (580) and earned a Provincial All-Star for his season, he was just 8-strokes away from overall leader Brady Stead (Camosun). James shot a two-day total of 146 (75-71) at the UFV Invitational which put him tied for fifth, 6-strokes off of Connor O'Dell's (UFV) pace. James was tied for fifth in the tournament with teammate Jacob Stewart, the first year golfer from Calgary shot (75-71, 146), on the year Stewart finished 9th in the PACWEST.
Oliver Rizun (76-86, 162, 22nd) and, Grant Dollevoet (86-80, 166, 26th) are the other markers for the Okanagan team in Chilliwack, the two finished 17th and 19th in the PACWEST overall.
The men's team will join the women at the 2015 PING CCAA National Championships at the Chilliwack Golf Club, the event is hosted by Fraser Valley. More info here: http://www.ccaa.ca/national-championship-s15047.
