Both the men and women Heat golfers will teeing off Wednesday morning as the UBC Okanagan Heat women’s golf team will attempt to medal for the second straight year at the PING CCAA national championships which take place Oct 14-17 at the Chilliwack Golf Club. The tourney is hosted by the University of Fraser Valley. Golfer for the women are Emily Adams, Carolyn Lee, and Lauren Siemers, both Lee and Adams won the bronze at last year's national championships. Siemers is a June 2015 graduate of West Kelowna's Mount Boucherie Secondary.
Carolyn Lee once again was the top golfer during the PACWEST tour for UBC Okanagan in 2015 and for the second straight year was honoured as an All Canadian at the awards banquet Tuesday evening. Lee will tee off from the first tee on Wednesday at 10:20 a.m. for the Heat, Adams is in the next foursome and will hit the links at 10:30 a.m., Siemers will be the first UBC Okanagan golfer up as she has drawn a 10:10 a.m. tee time. The tournament will span three consecutive days and 54 holes to decide a champion.
The Heat men are back as a team at the national championship for the first time since 2010 when they were in Kamloops, several time Heat men wave competed as an individual.
Although the Heat have never won a national medal as team they have come home from the national championships with a tournament all-star, Jordan Krulicki in 2009 finished fourth overall. The entire crop of golfers off to the national championship this year for UBC Okanagan have never competed at a national championships before, the five golfers are with (tee times//hole): James Casorso (9:55//10), Grant Dollevoet (9:45//10), Oliver Rizun (9:35//10) and Jacob Stewart (9:25//10), Casey Sullivan(9:15//10).
