UBC Okanagan women's basketball will get a chance to keep their win streak alive on their home court this weekend. Action at the UBC Okanagan tip-off on Friday at 6 p.m. and on Saturday at 5 p.m. both nights against the Mount Royal Cougars.

Kelowna BC - The UBC Okanagan women’s basketball team ended their second weekend of regular games with two wins against UNBC giving them a (3-1 record) and putting them in third place in the Canada West standings. The Heat will be hosting the Mount Royal Cougars this weekend. The first game of the weekend series will take place on Friday, November 20th with tip off scheduled for 6 p.m. The second game will follow on Saturday November 21st with a start time of 5 p.m.
Key Players- Emily Kanester is averaging 18.5 points per game making her essential to the team's offensive edge, she has an impressive 85% from the free throw line, putting her in third place in that category. Kanester also providing her team with three points shooting she stands (9-34, 26%), putting her in the sixth spot for that category. Third year, Claire Elliott finished the weekend with a combined 20 points, and Chloe Kennedy follows with a combined 16 points.
Key Stat - In spite off the 3-1 record for the Heat they have somehow lost the battle on the boards in all four games in that span. The last two games have seen vast improvement as 6’2 rookie Robyn Haynes has been a positive influence, the rebounding margin in their four games have gone from ( -22, -9, -5, -2). As of now UBCO is -6 and 12th in the conference in rebounding margin, the Cougars are -19.8 and 16th.
Head to Head - The Heat’s record stands 4-4 against Mount Royal. The Cougars and Heat have been unable to sweep the other in a weekend series since Mount Royal's entry into Canada West in 2012-2013.

Mount Royal Cougars - The Cougars have had a rough start to their season, losing both weekend series against MacEwan and Thomson Rivers. The Squad will make a trip to play the Heat this weekend and will be in Kelowna at UBC Okanagan.
Current Form- The Cougars go into this game with a 0-4 record and stand last in the division after losing both games at home against Thomson Rivers.
Key Players - Melissa Moore combined for 19 points in the weekend series against Thomson Rivers and shot 50% from the field in Friday night’s game. Angela Driscoll was able to capture a team high of 11 points in Saturday night’s game against the WolfPack. The Cougars are allowing 82.8 points per game. The two game series could be decided by who shoots it better from outside. The Heat (27-88) and Cougars (23-87) are 4th and 5th respectively in made threes on the season.

Key performers: Mount Royal will look to a trio of veterans and two newcomers this season to help lead them to their first ever playoff appearance. Melissa Moore, Angela Driscoll and Drew Knox will return from last season and will form the key leadership group on the Cougars going forward. The veterans will be flanked by two impressive recruits in Michelle Tiffany and Marikah Wright.

Key storyline: The central focus of the 2015-16 season will be rookie Head Coach Nate McKibbon. McKibbon spent the last 17 seasons coaching in Ontario, most recently with the Canadian Junior Women’s National Team. McKibbon’s experience with analytics and tactics will play a huge role in the success of this young program. His enthusiasm and passion is already rubbing off on the players during the preseason.
