This week for the Heat: This week marks the fifth week of regular season games for the Heat women’s soccer team. For the first time this season the Heat will be taking on the Thompson Rivers WolfPack in a split weekend at home and on the road. The first game of the series will be played on Thursday (Oct. 6) at 6 p.m. at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops. Followed by a second match on Saturday (Oct. 8) at the Nonis Sports Field in Kelowna with a start time of 1 p.m.

Current Form: Coming off of two losses on the road against the UBC T-Birds (2-0) and the University of Victoria Vikes (3-1)the Heat are looking to regroup at home as they now stand at a record of (2-6-0) keeping them sixth place standing in the Pacific West Division. The Heat will be looking to improve and build their record as they will split the weekend at home and on the road against the WolfPack who sit just three points behind UBCO in the standings for the sixth and final playoff spot.

Key Players: Rookie Maddy Laranjo is proving her efforts on offense, as she scored her first ever Canada West goal this last weekend against the Vikes and has ended a long scoring drought for the Kelowna squad. Third year Courtney Hemmerling is continuing to attack for her team in front of the net. In the past pair of games Hemmerling was able to make five shots in both games against UBC and UVIC. With her persistence Hemmerling has accumulated 28 shots this season putting her fifth in the Canada West Standings.

Team Stat: With the fourth weekend of regular season finished the Heat are now averaging 9.5 shots per game and have tallied 40 shots on goal this season.

Overall Head to Head (W-L-T) vs TRU (3-7-8): This is the first time the two sides are meeting this season. When these two teams went head to head last, the Heat lost the first game (0-3) and the second game ended in a 1-1 draw. This history has extended long into their days in the CCAA. The Heat haven't claimed a win against the WolfPack since October of 2014 and will be looking to break that streak with a win over the them in this upcoming weekend of games.
