The Heat men's volleyball team will travel to Calgary to face #8 Mount Royal this weekend for their third Canada West matchup of the 2016/17 season. Friday first serve is at 6 p.m. PST and Saturday at 5 p.m. PST.

This week for the Heat: Week three for the UBC Okanagan men's volleyball team will be their first on the road with their last two doubleheaders at home, the Heat will now head on the road for the first time this year as they head to Calgary to play Mount Royal University. The two squads will open the weekend on Friday (Nov. 18) with a game that will begin at 6 p.m. The second game between the two teams will be played Saturday (Nov. 19) with a start time of 5 p.m. Both the games will take place at Kenyon Court at Mount Royal University in Calgary.
Current Form: After winning their first match the Heat have dropped three in a row and now hold a record of (1-3). With only one win so far this season the Kelowna squad hold the tenth place spot in the Canada West division. A turnaround in fortunes is hoped as the Heat play the eighth ranked Cougars.
Key Players: Senior Lars Bornemann is leading the way for the Heat. As a fourth year player, Bornemann has taken a key leadership role on the court and is a vital asset to the Heat’s offense. With 58 kills so far this season, Bornmann hold the 15th place spot in USports for that category. Following Bornemann, is Alex Swiatlowski with 33 kills and 19 digs.
Team Stat: Just two weekends into their season the Heat are consistently averaging 12 kills per set and 11.71 assists per set making them the seventh in Canada West for both categories.
Overall Head to Head vs Mount Royal: The Cougars currently lead (7-1) against the Heat. The first and only time the Kelowna squad have claimed a victory over the Cougars was in November 2013.

Cougars: On Friday the Heat will play the Mount Royal Cougars, seventh in the Canada West division, the Cougars are coming off of a split weekend. The Calgary squad will be looking to outmatch the Heat as they will defend their home court against the Okanagan squad this upcoming weekend.
Current Form: The Cougars are coming off of a (3-0) loss and a (3-0) win against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack, with the split the Cougars now hold a record of (2-2) and will be looking to maintain their winning streak against the Heat.
Key Players: Riley Friesen is proving his skill on the court for the Cougars. With 42 kills, 19 digs, and nine blocks this season the 6’7 outside hitter is a vital asset to the Cougars offensive line. Tanner Greves is also a key component to the Cougars offensive line with 45 assists so far this season.
Team Stat: The Cougars and the Heat will go head to head this weekend with assists and kills as the Cougars are averaging 12.79 kills a set and 12.21 assists per set putting them in sixth for kills and fifth for assists in Canada West.
