This Week for the Heat: This upcoming weekend will be the Heat's last before they take their winter break. After two weekends on the road, they will return home to the UBC Okanagan gymnasium for two matches against the University of Calgary Dinos. First serve is set for 8 p.m. on Friday night, and 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Current Form: With a slower start to their season, the Heat men’s volleyball team look to be somewhat back on track after a weekend sweep at the University of Regina this past weekend. With the two wins, the Heat now hold a record of (3-5) and stand in sixth place in the Canada West division. As the Heat return home for their last weekend of the 2016 slate of games, the Kelowna squad will be eager to win and take an even more improved record into the new year.
Key Players: Senior Lars Bornemann continues to lead the way for the Heat. With 100 kills so far this season, as well as 36 digs and 16 blocks, the 6’3" outside hitter is taking charge of the Heat attack. Josh Harvey is also stepping up for the Heat, with 58 kills so far this season. As a 6’7" middle, Harvey also has a total of 38 blocks, putting him second in that category in U Sports. Last weekend against the Cougars in Regina, freshman Kyle Hinchey also set four new career highs. In the Friday night match, Hinchey finished with nine digs and five blocks, both new personal records. He set two new personal bests on Saturday night, finishing with 11 kills, and a .333 attack percentage.
Milestones: After last weekend's matches against the Regina Cougars, Lars Bornemann now sits in third place all-time in career kills at this school, with 717. The next number to beat for Bornemann is 740, the career total of Riley McFarland.
Team Stat: With their season well underway, the Heat have improved their attack, and are now averaging 12.18 kills per set, as well as 11.71 assists per set. As they head into this weekend's matchup against the Dinos, the Heat will have to rely on, and maintain, those improved attack numbers.
Overall Head to Head vs UofC: The Heat are currently down (2-8) against the Dino's, and claimed their first two wins in January of 2015.

Dino's: On Friday the Heat will play the Calgary Dinos, who currently sit seventh in the Canada West division with a record of 2-6. With only one spot in the standings between UBC Okanagan and Dinos, both teams will be eager for wins before the winter break.
Current Form: The Dinos are coming off of two losses against Mount Royal in a home-and-home series between the two Calgary campuses. That dropped the Dinos' record to (2-6) before coming to Kelowna this weekend.
Key Players: Outside Hitter Curtis Stockton is one of the top scorers for the Dinos. With 116 kills so far this season, and an average of 4 kills per set, Stockton is sixth in Canada in kills per set. Alex Bader is also providing for the Dinos, with 76 kills, 33 digs, and 16 blocks.
Team Stat: The Dinos have a strong front line that is averaging 11.28 kills and 10.34 assists per set. After a closely-contested preseason match, which the Dinos took 3-2, the teams will likely be in for a battle when they meet on Heat turf.
