Erica Reis coming to the Heat from CMFSC

By Cary Mellon on April 18, 2017

Recruit-Profile-Header-Graphic---WSOC-ERica-ReisMidfielder Erica Reis is one of three players coming from the CMF Football Club to the UBC Okanagan women's soccer team for next season.

KELOWNA, BC -- Erica Reis, a 5'5" midfielder from Port Moody, is the latest addition to the Heat women's soccer program for next season. She is the younger sister of Lucas Reis, who finished his fifth year with the UBC Thunderbirds men's side last season.

Like her current and future teammate Mackenzie Pfoh, Reis currently attends Heritage Woods Secondary School. She played on the school's varsity side from 2013 to 2016, and she currently plays with the Coquitlam Metro Ford Soccer Club's u18 side. She is also an assistant coach for the CMFSC's u8 girls development team.

With her club team in the BCSPL she was a league champion in 2015, the second year of her captaincy, and was also named a tournament all-star at the 2016 Whitecaps Showcase. Erica has also been a member of BC Provincial Teams twice, in 2013 with the u14 side and in 2015 with the u16 side.

“[I'm] unbelievably excited to begin a new chapter in my life," said Reis about the upcoming move to Kelowna and UBC Okanagan. "Being able to continue to learn and grow in both my academics and sport of choice is a dream come true.”

Reis cites UBC Okanagan's location, culture, and excellent reputation as primary reasons for choosing the school and program, and says she plans to "challenge myself in my studies and my athleticism through soccer."

Commenting on Erica's decision to join the Heat, her soon-to-be coaches Criag Smith and Carli Tingstad said, "Erica has a great work ethic and comes from a great club environment. She brings good 1v1 skills."

Academically, Reis plans to study in the management program with plans for a career in business.

Reis will be one of three players from the Coquitlam Metro Ford club program in the Heat's 2017 incoming class along with Kathleen Deady (Defender), and Mackenzie Pfoh (Striker), are the other two.

Kacee Ougden (Central midfielder) and Jillian Hunt (Centre-back) will join the 2017 incoming class from the TSS Football Club, while a PACWEST transfer in Anastazia Ziros (Defender) are the six recruits that have signed on to join the Heat next fall.

The UBC Okanagan Heat women's soccer schedule will be released on Wednesday, June 14.
