Despite loss, Heat men still in contention for playoffs
KELOWNA, B.C. – A disappointing 2-0 loss for the UBC Okanagan Heat men’s soccer team to the Langara Falcons Saturday at the Nonis Sports Field did not end the team’s playoff aspirations and they will have a chance to qualify for postseason play tomorrow in their final regular season game.
Currently tied for the fourth and final playoff spot with the Vancouver Island Mariners, the Heat received a reprise today as the Mariners fell to the Kwantlen Eagles 1-0 in Surrey, keeping both teams at an identical record. However, the Mariners are still up on the Heat in the head-to-head tiebreaker, meaning that the Heat must win tomorrow and the Mariners must tie or lose. The Heat could also play to a draw and still qualify if the Mariners lose on Sunday.
