Third year forward Kirsten Dodds, the leading UBC Okanagan goal scorer in 2012, had been held goalless heading into week four of the 2013 PACWEST season. In the past two games, her teammates had also been shutout, dropping both decisions. It came as no surprise that when Dodds broke out this weekend. Dodds netted three […]

NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C. – The game of soccer is a rain or shine sport for good reason, even though Mother Nature may sometimes prove to be a cold mistress. The Heat women’s soccer team would unfortunately run into said mistress for the second day straight, this time while visiting the Capilano Blues for a Sunday matchup.
After the Capilano Blues’ home turf was deemed unplayable following their Saturday matches with TRU, the venue was promptly changed to Cleveland Park at the base of Grouse Mountain.

The UBC Okanagan Heat women’s soccer team faced the Langara Falcons on Saturday Sep 15, resulting in a 2-2 tied soccer match as the Heat played their first road league game of the season in Vancouver.
“I am pleased with the way we played today,” said Head coach Claire Paterson. “We definitely played good enough to win, but we were unlucky in the final third and it seemed to be the other story for Langara. The score was not indicative of our performance.”
For the game the Heat outshot the Falcons 24-four and created numerous chances throughout the game including ringing the crossbar and the post late in the second half.
“We were solid across the park”, explains Paterson on her team’s stellar but unlucky play, “winning the ball first time out of the air and creating numerous quality goal scoring chances which is exciting to see.”
