Smith and Sarchet team up to push Heat past Blues

Smith and Sarchet team up to push Heat past Blues

By Jesse Shopa on September 8, 2013

For the second time in two games, Michelle Smith (3rd year, Vernon, BC) got the Heat on the board first, and her goal would stand as the game winner as the Heat defeated the visiting Capilano Blues 2-0 Sunday at Nonis Sports Field.

After a huge save by Blues goalkeeper Ariel Anderson (3rd year, Burnaby, BC) in the 60th minute, a mad scramble formed in front of the Capilano net in search of the rebound. A frantic Anderson was helplessly bowled over in the chaos, leaving the net wide open for Smith. She put a light touch on the ball, and it sailed over the flattened Anderson for the Heat's first goal.

By Cary Mellon on October 30, 2011

The UBC Okanagan Heat won a medal as the host team in the PACWEST provincial championship on Sunday; it just may have been the wrong colour, silver instead of gold. The Heat fell to the Thompson Rivers WolfPack 2-1 in extra time; this marks the second year in a row that the Heat has medaled […]
