The UBC Okanagan Heat will hold an intra-squad game Tuesday (5 p.m.) at VSS.
The VSS Panthers senior girls are sponsoring the event. Admission is by a Food Bank donation.
Lenai Schmidt, who played volleyball at VSS in Grades 8-10 before transferring to Kal for her final two years, helping the Lakers claim the 2008 pro- vincial senior AA title, is a fifth-year Libero with the Heat.
Heat outside hitter Megan Festival (fifth year, Calgary) and her Alberta teammates struck gold at the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Que.
Alberta pulled off a stunning comeback, win- ning the last three sets to defeat B.C. 3-2 (21-25, 13-25, 25-13, 25-20, 15-9). B.C. had only lost two sets in the entire tournament.

For a kid who didn’t know he was going to play volleyball in Grade 8, Vernon’s Preston Tucker has sure come a long way in the sport.
The ex-Seaton Sonic setter capped off a stellar five-year collegiate career with the UBC Okanagan Heat by claiming the College Athlete of the Year at Sport B.C.’s 46th annual awards gala last month at the River Rock Show Theatre.
