Raising the profile of UBC's Okanagan Campus

Leanne Takenaka, marketing and communications manager

Looking to develop a strategic approach to Okanagan campus marketing initiatives, UBC recently hired Marketing and Communications Manager Leanne Takenaka to help advance the profile of the Okanagan campus.

In the seven years since the campus launched, Okanagan residents have experienced the transformative effect of UBC in the Valley. The campus has introduced an exceptional quality of education and research and it is now time to make a concerted effort to share that story with a wider audience.

Leanne is a UBC alumna (BCom) with strategic marketing experience in both corporate and post-secondary education environments. Before joining UBC, she was responsible for marketing executive education programs at the University of Calgary.

Leanne is part of University Relations' Marketing and Communications unit. As with anyone stepping into a new marketing and communications role, Takenaka is starting the planning process by surveying campus needs.

This includes working with internal stakeholders and finding key areas of collaboration that will help develop a cohesive campus-wide marketing and communications plan.
