Stephanie McKeown, director of Okanagan Planning and Institutional Research, has been appointed to the research committee of the BC Council on Admissions and Transfer (BCCAT).
BCCAT oversees the BC Transfer System, enabling important links between the post-secondary institutions, education ministries, and the public and private education sectors in British Columbia.
BCCAT provides a coordinating function for the BC Transfer System by working in partnership with institutions to facilitate articulation, transfer, and admission arrangements that support transfer credit recognition and student mobility.
"I am thrilled at the opportunity to serve on this committee," says McKeown. "I look forward to representing our campus and to contributing to the important research being done by this committee."
Research is a significant component of the work of BCCAT, and the Council is committed to facilitating a more comprehensive understanding of the ever-changing post-secondary environment. For this reason, BCCAT coordinates a wide variety of research projects to inform and support institutional planning, procedures, and policies, and to enhance educational opportunities and experiences for BC post-secondary students.
This committee provides recommendations on the general nature of research activities and identifies specific research projects to BCCAT.
McKeown’s appointment begins October 1, 2013 and is for a three year term, with the possibility of renewal.
