Campus' carbon emissions reduced again in 2015

By Leanne Bilodeau on June 9, 2016

2015 Carbon Neutral Action Report coverUBC Okanagan continues to show its commitment to the environment year after year.

Despite continued campus growth, UBC Okanagan achieved a 17 per cent reduction in absolute carbon emissions in 2015. This reduced the campus' carbon offset liability by almost $14,000 and carbon emissions by 524 tCO2e, the equivalency of 111 passenger vehicles driven for one year.

These improvements are attributed to a strategic focus on emissions and energy efficiencies in campus buildings, as well as programs that focus on water and waste reduction.

Download the 2015 Carbon Neutral Action Report for an overview of conservation measures and sustainability programs implemented at UBC Okanagan over the past year. It is available at: sustain.ok.ubc.ca/reports/cnar.
