Present your research for cash and glory
Calling all graduate students: Sign up now for UBC Okanagan's sixth-annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition and compete for cash prizes – including the $6,000 that's up for grabs at the final event.
Faculty and School heats begin this month, with top students advancing to the 3MT final on March 14, 2019.
Grad students in thesis-based programs, from all faculties and schools, have just three minutes and one slide to explain the depth and significance of their research to a non-specialized audience and panel of judges.
3MT participation fosters effective presentation and communication skills, adds experience of merit to CVs, provides students with valuable publicity and enables students to crystallize their research findings.
To register to participate, please contact the heat organizers in your faculty or school.
The 3MT final event is on March 14, 2019. Finalists are expected to be present for the entire final, and are asked to arrive for a briefing session in advance of the start of the final. Winning students will be awarded cash prizes for the winner, runner-up and people’s choice.
The winner will also advance to the Western Regional 3MT competition in late spring 2019.
Schedule at a glance
For graduate students interested in participating, upcoming information sessions and practice sessions are an opportunity to learn how to prepare for the competition and create a winning entry! Sessions will be presented in collaboration with the Centre for Scholarly Communication.
