U17 Girls at Wolfpack Summer Shootout results

Tournament: 2014 Wolfpack Summer Shootout
Date: July 4,5,6
Location: Thompson Rivers University , Kamloops, BC

Game one:

Jr Heat-52
Triple Threat U17-49

Top scorers were Hannah Friesen with 13pts and 8 rebounds, Megan Blair-Admussen with 11pts, 4 rebounds, and Danielle Ruocco added 6pts. We struggled early in this game and never really found rhythm but we showed  a lot of fight to battle from down 12pts in the first half and 10pts with 6 mins to go in the game. Timely 3pt shots by Jade Mackie, Avery Watson, and Brooke Kassa and one final defensive stop that saw Megan Blair-Admussen, and Hannah Friesen team up for a block shot pushed us over the edge to get win.

Game two:

Jr Heat-39
Jr Cascades U17-52

Top scorers were Jordan Korol with 12pts, Emma Johnson with 8pts, Hannah Friesen had 7pts and 5 rebounds, and Megan Blair-Admussen chipped in with 5pts. We really came out with a high compete level and pushed the Cascades, we took an early 7pt lead and the 2nd half was a back and forth battle but a late run (similar to the first time we played them) gave the Cascades the victory.

Game Three:

Jr Heat-34
Thomson Rivers U. Wolfpack-54

Top scorers were Emma Johnson with 8pts, Hannah Friesen with 7pts and 6 rebounds, Megan Blair-Admussen also had 7pts, and Danielle Ruocco added 4pts. Again we really liked how we competed especially against this group. We stayed close but as the game wore on we were not able to sustain the level we needed and the Wolfpack pulled away.

Game Four:

Jr Heat-52
Jr Timberwolves U17-48

Top scorers were Jordan Korol with 18pts and 4 reobunds, Emma Johnson with 12pts, and 3 steals, Megan Blair-Admussen with 11pts, 6 rebounds and 3 block shots, and Avery Watson contributed to the team with a team high 6 rebounds, and a team high 5 assist. Danielle Ruocco added 6pts in the win. We controlled most of this game except a 3 min stretch in the 2nd half that saw our lead erased and we found ourselves down two. The team responded nicely out of a time out they felt they needed and went on to secure the win.

This was a much needed weekend of games and we were put in many different situations which will only help us get ready for our final tourney in Edmonton July 11th-13th. We will work on certain things in practice and are looking forward to the trip. This was the last weekend for Brooke Kassa and Selma Kusturica so we say good bye to them! Paige Briscoe finished up a couple weeks ago so we say good bye to her too!
