Visit the Bookstore or Library on Thursday to participate in Plastic Bag Reduction Day and receive one limited-edition reusable bag with original artwork by student Kirk Chavarie at no charge.
Worldwide, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are used each year. It takes between 450 and 1,000 years for plastic bags to break down in a landfill.
Doing simple things like shopping with reusable bags can make a serious impact on the amount of plastic ending up in landfills each year, while also avoiding the greenhouse gas emissions associated with making the bags.
Make it a resolution this year to help reduce the use of single-use plastic bags.
