The Health Promotions department is excited to announce that they have chosen to partner with the Canadian Cancer Society to help improve Okanagan campus employees’ health and wellness with the WellnessFits program.
WellnessFits is an internet-based program that offers UBC employees resources and support they need to improve the health of their workplace. The program offers tools to educate on healthy practices, ideas for employees to help practice healthy choices and supports to help keep a lasting positive change.
Topics include: healthy eating, physical activity, healthy minds, tobacco free, sun and UV awareness, and early detection. The living with cancer and environmental health topics will also be available as the program develops.
Most modules can be done individually, but some will also have online and face-to-face components.
The first module will be introduced in June 2013 — Own Your Own Skin Tone (sun and UV Awareness) — with the Fall into Action Challenge (physical activity) to follow in the fall.
Any employees interested in participating in the WellnessFits program please register via the Health Promotions website. Participants will be sent information on upcoming WellnessFits events and challenges.
