UBC’s Okanagan Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal Deborah Buszard commented today on the wildfire near Philpott Road in the Joe Rich area several kilometres east of Kelowna.
“I would like to express my support to those from our local community that have been affected by the wildfire near Kelowna.
While the fires have not impacted our campus directly and students should expect to return to classes as usual, we remain part of the provincial emergency response plan and are working closely with local authorities to provide assistance to evacuees and emergency personnel should it be required.
UBC is an integral part of the Okanagan community and we stand ready to support our friends and neighbours as best we can.”
