Open forum taking place Sept. 25
A global search for the next Dean of the Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences will begin shortly.
To encourage input from the campus community an open forum will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, in the University Centre Ballroom UNC200. Your comments about the Dean search are also welcome via email to Cara Kirkey (cara.kirkey@ubc.ca) in the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal’s office.
As set out in UBC Policy 21, an Advisory Committee will consider and advise the President on the candidates before the President makes a recommendation to the Board of Governors. I will chair the committee, and Boyden Executive Search has been retained to assist the committee in the search for highly qualified candidates.
The Advisory Committee includes four faculty members elected by and from faculty members in the Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences, four people appointed by the President, and an undergraduate student and a graduate student from the Barber School.
The Advisory Committee will provide updates as the candidate selection process continues. We hope you will join us at the open forum on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the UNC Ballroom.
Sincerely,
Prof. Deborah Buszard
UBC Deputy Vice-Chancellor
Principal, UBC Okanagan
