Top Central Okanagan grads eligible for UBC Okanagan entrance scholarships

February 10, 2006

Students in B.C.’s high school graduating classes of 2006 who have an 80 per cent average or higher are eligible to receive a President’s Entrance Scholarship of between $1,000 and $4,000 to attend UBC Okanagan in Kelowna next September. Last year, students needed an 86 per cent average to qualify for this scholarship.

“By establishing a new 80 per cent qualifying average for the President’s Entrance Scholarship, we have significantly expanded the number of students who will be eligible for this scholarship,” says Deborah Robinson, Associate Registrar.

“In addition to making more students eligible for the President’s Entrance Scholarship, this year we have also raised the basic award value from $500 to $1,000.”

Students applying to UBC Okanagan with an 86 per cent average from high school may receive $2,000, and students with a 95 per cent average may receive $4,000.

The scholarship is automatically offered by UBC Okanagan to all incoming secondary school students with high academic standing – a separate scholarship application is not required.
