A group of rising young Canadian opera singers and a nimble-fingered pianist take to the stage at UBC Okanagan for a free public concert April 4.
The Vancouver Opera Touring Ensemble will play music spanning three centuries in “The World of Opera (in 45 Minutes).” It’s the third performance in this season’s Minds and Music concert series at the university.
“We are thrilled to have such a highly regarded ensemble visit our campus,” says Minds and Music series organizer Dr. Manuela Ungureanu, professor of philosophy at UBC Okanagan. “This program will introduce our students to operatic stories and settings stretching from Europe to the Far East, and to some of the most memorable arias of the classical repertoire; it really is an inspiring way to explore or discover the world of opera.”
The April 4 concert features Mozart, Rossini, Verdi and Puccini. It takes place at 12:30 p.m. in the main foyer of the Student Services Centre at UBC Okanagan. The public is welcome to attend, and admission is free.
