This July, a team of UBC researchers and health professionals headed to Geneva, Switzerland, as invited guests at the World Health Organization’s International Union of Health Promotion and Education conference, held every three years for leaders in the health promotion field.
The team was selected to present their findings from the first VOICE Study, focusing on the study’s impact of having students working directly with all members of the campus community — faculty members, administrators, and campus business leaders — in making important health promoting changes at UBC using community-based participatory action methods.
Notable changes include improvements to drinking water, establishment of a campus trails system, smoking reduction strategies and access to more and better nutritious food options on campus.
