The Fisher Lab Plastic Recycling Program is now available to all laboratories at UBC’s Okanagan campus.
Based on the success of a pilot project which ran from March to May, the recycling program has been expanded to all research facilities across campus. It allows recycling of all plastic packaging and non-hazardous plastics supplied by Fisher Scientific — making the Okanagan campus the first post-secondary institution in Canada to roll-out this type of program.
To date, over 4,000 litres of plastics has been recycled, and 22 labs are participating in the program. This initiative is funded by Corning Life Sciences and will contribute to future sustainability initiatives on campus.
