Leah Sanford, English Language Centre Coordinator, is collecting on-campus donations to support a local Soles4Souls shoe drive, being organized by local resident and businessman Jim Belshaw. Belshaw aims to collect 100,000 pairs in 25 days this spring.
Soles4Souls distribute shoes, free of charge, to people in need around the world.
In last year’s shoe drive, 7,000 of the 40,000 pairs collected in the Okanagan were distributed locally. The remaining shoes were shipped to people in need across the globe — primarily Haiti. This year arrangements have been made to ship donations to Japan.
Clean out your closest and drop off all gently-used footwear to the Career Centre (room UNC207) by Thursday, May 5.
