Mathew Morazain, Executive Chef for UBC’s Okanagan campus, has won the gold medal for the individuals’ competition and silver medal for group competition at the annual Chef Inspired Culinary Conference, which was held earlier this month at Carleton University this year.
Morazain was one of a select few the top Aramark chefs in Canada chosen to compete at the conference and made his prescence immediately known with a creative array of dishes, only missing the gold medal in the team competition by a fraction of a point.
With the gold medal win, Morazain will be representing Team Canada in the North American Competition later this year in Tampa Bay, Florida. This will be the second year in a row that Morazain will compete in the North American Competition.
A hearty congratulations from the campus community to Chef Morazain.
