Building on its previous focus of healthy campus development, the next phase of The VOICE Study begins in September at UBC’s Okanagan campus.
Focusing on community engagement and data collection — mainly, pictures, facts, figures and testimonies — student VOICE researchers will begin a new phase of research in September by taking photos that identify health issues on campus.
The researchers will then spend October canvassing campus with a community dialogue survey that seeks to find out what UBC students, faculty and staff think about the health of the campus.
Student VOICE researchers will be found across campus from October 1 to 18 and all campus community members are encouraged to provide their input.
Since the study got underway in 2006, VOICE research has been a significant contributor to a number of health-promoting campus changes. VOICE researchers, with significant support from campus partners, helped improve the quality of drinking water, food, student and outdoor recreation space on campus.
Results of the 2012-2013 phase of VOICE will be provided at a campus-wide forum on November 21.
