Approximately one-third of domestic UBC students at the Okanagan campus come from outside of B.C. Many of these students struggle to establish a sense of community or belonging. Kickstart was established in 2011 with this challenge in mind.
This year, Kickstart organizers are looking to engage faculty and staff members in the process. Be it through hosting workshops, providing material, or participating in socials, Kickstart organizers have a wide range of opportunities for everyone to help.
The program will be taking place August 28 to 31.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact this year’s Kickstart Student Coordinator, Kelly Panchyshyn at 250-807-9841.
Panchyshyn is a soon-to-be third year student in the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies and is passionate about student development. She looks forward to building on Kickstart’s past successes with this year’s program.
