André Phillion, assistant professor in the School of Engineering has won a travel package for supporting the start an evolution Faculty and Staff Appeal.

Phillion won a $1,400 prize from Travel Cuts which includes a trip for two to Sun Peaks Resorts, transportation and five nights accommodation and a $500 travel voucher for supporting the Faculty and Staff appeal by making a donation.

The travel package wasn’t really what he was hoping to achieve by participating, though. Phillion joined the start an evolution campaign because “graduate students are the life-blood of any major university. I support UBC in order to improve the well-being of these talented individuals who are indispensable for achieving UBC’s goals of excellence in Teaching and Research.”

Long-time donor Margaret Tom-Wing, executive coordinator in the Dean of Arts Office at the Vancouver campus has also won an Apple product prize pack for participating.
