The Glenmore-Ellison Improvement District (GEID) has notified UBC that water main flushing will be underway for the water system serving UBC’s Okanagan campus and other nearby areas of Kelowna this Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 2 to 4, 2013.
GEID notes that flushing normally occurs between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Campus residents may wish to avoid doing laundry during these times.
During any water main flushing, there is the potential for increased turbidity. Water may appear more coloured or have more sediment than usual. Be cautious using water at this time; especially for food and beverages. Should water be more coloured or turbid run the tap until the water is clear.
The Water Quality Advisory issued by GEID remains in effect.
Drinking water is available from filtered water kiosks in every major building on campus.
