UBC research study looks at muscle change in healthy, older adults

By Patty Wellborn on December 2, 2013

The UBC Healthy Exercise and Aging Lab Group in the Faculty of Health and Social Development is looking for healthy older adults, aged 65 to 95 years, to participate in a study on muscle change and physical activity.

This research will investigate changes in muscle activity required to successfully perform functional tasks required for independent living, such as food preparation, laundry, dressing, rising from a chair and similar activities.

The findings will help to explain why functional tasks become more difficult to complete as we age. If you are interested in participating or would like more information please call Noelannah Neubauer at 780-909-8625 or email noelannah@hotmail.com

The study is led by Assistant Professor Gareth R. Jones, School of Health and Exercise Sciences.
