Multi-media artist Damian Moppett will speak as a guest lecturer at UBC on Thursday, February 6 at a free public event. His talk starts at 12 noon in Room CCS222, Creative and Critical Studies Building, 1148 Research Rd., UBC’s Okanagan campus, Kelowna.

Through fascinating transformational processes involving photography, sculpture, drawing, video and painting, Moppett examines notions of origin, authorship and value. His work often finds its origin in modern art history, and often reflects the smaller and humbler events of life in the studio. Moppett’s practice is a maze of references and historical reconstitutions, exploring the real and the analogous through a layered approach that brings the viewer on the journey.

Moppett lives and works in Vancouver. Recent solo exhibitions include The Bells, Simon Fraser University Gallery, Burnaby (2014); Salute, Catriona Jeffries, Vancouver (2013); Vancouver Art Gallery Offsite, Vancouver (2012).
