Notice of water main flushing

March 11, 2014

The Glenmore-Ellison Improvement District (GEID) has notified UBC that water main flushing will be underway this week, with the system serving UBC’s Okanagan campus affected on Thursday and Friday, March 13 and 14.

Additional water main flushing will take place Monday, March 17, which may increase turbidity in the water on March 17 and 18.

Flushing of water mains normally occurs between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

During any water main flushing, there is the potential for increased turbidity. Water may appear more coloured or have more sediment than usual. Be cautious using water at this time; especially for food and beverages. Should water be more coloured or turbid run the tap until the water is clear. Campus residents may also wish to avoid doing laundry during these times.

The Water Quality Advisory issued by GEID remains in effect.

Drinking water is available from filtered water kiosks in every major building on campus. (See locations)
