When: Thursday, March 27, 4:15 p.m.
Where: University Theatre (ADM 026)
Tickets: Students & Seniors $10, General $15, available at the UBCO Bookstore and the door. Metered parking available.

Expect more than tutus and tiaras. Featuring Canadian choreographers and composers, Ballet Kelowna will showcase Variations on Innovation, a shortened version of their ground-breaking program Innovation. From pioneering to cutting-edge works, Innovation challenges ideas of contemporary ballet.

Variations on Innovation is being presented by Theatre26 on Thursday, March 27, 4:15 p.m., at University Theatre, (ADM026), UBC’s Okanagan campus. Admission is $10 for students and seniors, $15 others, with tickets available at the UBC Bookstore and at the door.

Choreography is by dance icons Kay Armstrong and Brian Macdonald, former Ballet BC star Simone Orlando and Ballet Kelowna’s Artistic Director David LaHay. Composers including Kelowna’s own jazz artist Neville Bowman, Toronto’s Linda Catlin Smith, and Quebecois singer-songwriter Gilles Vigneault, set a different tone for each work.

Join Ballet Kelowna’s Artistic Director David LaHay as he celebrates his final season with the company he founded against all odds. In his charismatic introductions, LaHay puts the works in context and the audience at ease. Innovation is the crowning achievement of LaHay’s long career and this is one performance not to be missed.
