Creativity has gained form in a collection of new student artworks to be showcased at UBC. The graduating bachelor of fine arts class is ready to show their stuff: art reflecting diversity in form, materials and ideas over the course of their final year of visual arts studies.

The BFA Exhibition, entitled Ellipsis, showcases the work of 27 graduating visual arts students in UBC’s Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies.

The work will be displayed on the first and second floors of the Creative and Critical Studies Building, and runs from Wednesday, April 16, to Saturday, April 26. Viewing hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Note: Closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, open Saturday, April 19, and Easter Monday, April 21.

“The show will be a fantastic opportunity for people to come see the work of upcoming artists in the community, and also to enjoy a vibrant event with live music and great food,” says fourth-year student Pilar Guinea. “The work itself is an incredible mix of traditional and experimental art media, along with investigations of how to use art as a means of expression. It is a show that should be attended by everyone who loves art and a good time!”

The BFA Exhibition gala takes place on Saturday, April 19, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. It is an opportunity to come and see the students’ work and enjoy a lively evening of entertainment and refreshments.

The evening entertainment at the opening gala features Matt Sandy Jr., JoyfulDoor and Rumpus Room. Appetizers and refreshments will be served, and a cash bar is available.
