Improve posture and core strength at weeklong yoga retreat

May 20, 2014

Sthira-Sukham retreat

For those who want to enjoy a second yoga retreat this spring, UBC is offering a five-day Sthira-Sukham retreat from July 13 to 18.

This getaway is for those looking to improve their posture, decrease back pain and discomfort, and increase knowledge and development of their core strength.

Participation includes yoga and meditation sessions, experiential lectures on healthy posture and core strength, healthy lunches, restorative yoga with hot stones, silent hiking and yoga, biking, paddleboard yoga, and an optional wine tour.

In the 2,500-year-old foundational text of yoga – the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali – it is written that posture should be sthira-sukham: steady and comfortable, firm yet gentle, strong yet relaxed, alert yet light.

Expect to leave this retreat feeling taller, energized, and equipped with a better understanding of strategies to keep improving your own posture and core strength.

Retreat dates are July 13 to 18 and the early bird deadline is June 1.
