When: Thursday, June 26. Frisbee Golf at 5:30 p.m., main event 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: Knox Mountain Disc Golf Course and Streaming Café, 596, Leon Ave, Kelowna

Engineering graduate students at UBC’s Okanagan campus have come up with an idea to make the serious topic of global water issues a fun activity.

Nilufar Islam and Tim Hurley, who are part of the Canadian Water Network’s Student and Young Professional Committee, are organizing Blue Drinks, a two-tiered event that combines Frisbee golf with networking.

The event kicks off with a fun Frisbee golf game (bring your own Frisbee) at the Knox Mountain Disc Golf Course. After the Frisbee golf, participants move to the Streaming Café on Leon Avenue where Nelson Jatel, water stewardship director with the Okanagan Basin Water Board, will present a talk titled Contemporary Issues in Shared Okanagan Water. There will be an opportunity for networking after Jatel’s talk.

Registration for one or both events is at: www.eventbrite.com/e/blue-drinks-kelowna-contemporary-issues-in-shared-okanagan-water-tickets-11863406769

Both events are free and open to the public.
